Love the Shakespeare reference as that's why John originally came to the UK - to learn Shakespeare

Heh. You want curly hair if your hair is straight, and straight hair if your hair is curly, as my dad used to say. :-)

Exactly. This started from the idea that both Ianto and the Doctor wear immaculate suits all the time.

It's meant to go back and forth after what I have, but it ruins the effect to keep it going.

Yep, that's definitely the idea that comes across!

That, and I wonder which one he drives crazy first...

I like it! The prose style is a bit plain, but the idea is a solid one, and the idea of Jack wishing for the doctor but later regretting not wishing for the right doctor ... it's an interesting idea, that Jack might leave because he can't reconcile 10 and Martha with 9 and Rose, because he was able to retrieve the relationship but that it has become too different to satisfy him.

PS. In the last 2 para you use the word 'home' three times, and I think it might have more impact if you got rid of the first two and then had the last line really punch the reader with the idea that Cardiff and England are 'home'.

Thanks,

but it's more about Jack always wanting to move on. He's unsatisfied at Torchwood, so he goes travelling with the Doctor, but then he's not satisfied there either...

ah, I see. Perhaps I was 'interrogating the text from the wrong perspective' (to quote Anne Rice, I believe) =P but nonetheless, it's an interesting take on Jack, the idea that he doesn't realize what he actually wants.

I love the comparisons between Ianto and The Doctor in their suits. I guess Jack has a thing for sharp-dressed men. :P This was really nice though. It's so interesting to see Jack torn on what he really wants. Though I guess being immortal is bound to make him restless.
