I bought a CD from Shelby Lynne, "Suit Yourself". I saw her at the Garrison Keller's "A Praire Home Companion" (kinda like a comedy-variety radio show), and really liked her. She sings country, and I usually abhor country music (not nearly as much as rap though), but it's almost Patsy Cline-ish (if I'm going to listen to any country, it's sort of this really old fashion country style). Apparently she played Johnny Cash's mother in Walk the Line. I haven't seen the movie myself, but maybe you have.

Anyway, I'm curious if the songs on her CD are as good as what she sang at the Hollywood Bowl. If they aren't, then at least I didn't spend $20. :)

Oh, you totally crack me up. That's what I always say. I love all kinds of music except country, rap. Oh, and that dance-type music. Power 106 stuff.

But... I do like some Johnny Cash and some Patsy Cline... and... the new Dixie Chicks CD. I picked it up after I saw a couple of their interviews and because I wanted to support free speech. I ended up seriously loving "Not Ready to Make Nice" and "The Long Way Around" as well as a couple of ballads.

And do rent Walk the Line. It's an excellent movie.

Must look into Project Blue Rose...

I generally dislike most country, but the Dixie Chicks are a big exception. I don't know why, but I enjoy them muchly.

Maybe it's the nice harmonizing? I sang in choir in jr. high and high school. There's nothing I like more than good 3, 4, 5 part harmony. I choose one part and then the other and sing along each time I listen. :)
