...do we have a way of recruiting a new "owner", "moderator" or whatever we call it here these days?

Not that I know of. But there's no reason someone couldn't start a new comm -- canadian_tv, perhaps? -- and invite people who follow this comm to move to the new one.

ETA: From the FAQs: Frequently Asked Question #221. What can I do if a community owner has abandoned their community? What if there is spam in a community I read?

Okay, that gives us a possible option to play with before resorting to abandoning this community ourselves to start over from scratch...or maybe not.

If you pursue it and take ownership, and if you'd like a co-mod just to keep an eye out for spam and the like, I'd be willing. I'm online a lot and have an extremely low drama quotient. *g*

I think I'm going to go with starting a new LJ community. After researching the procedures for changing up ownership, it seems the more sensible course.

I'll post word once it's up and running. And I'll take you up on that co-mod offer.
