just give me something to believe

Since work readjusted their internet filters and I can now access livejournal again, I thought I'd give you guys a quick update. (Not that I usually have any actual time to go on lj when I'm at work, but right now I need to do a quick vent/get things out of my head, so here I am.)

First, let me be ( explicit about my period! )

fun times, peel, tmi, plans, potential, firefly, knitting, women's health

I know, right? I don't even know what to do with that nonsense, haha. I'm hoping that it will get more predictable as my body gets used to making its own hormones again! Fingers crossed, anyway! :p

Would I like Firefly? I've heard of it but don't know what it's about. I went off bc about 6 months ago and it hasn't been consistent yet :(

I think you would like it. It's about a crew on a spaceship (obviously set in the future) who do smuggling operations and stuff, but the dialogue is really well written, the characters are smart and well developed, etc., which to me is what makes the show so enjoyable. It's created by Joss Whedon, so if you are familiar with any of his other shows, that should give you some idea of the style. It's worth checking out, I think!

Ugh, really? I was afraid of that. :( I guess we'll just have to see what happens!

hopefully your period will get back on track. i'm not usually on hormonal bc (except right now) and my period basically doesn't have a track. but i also don't really track it either...? so if you asked me how long my last cycle was, i'd be like...lolol i dunno, 4-6 weeks?

i was pissed because i am on depo right now while i'm on cytoxan and i had hoped i wouldn't get my period...but then i did...and now it has turned into 8+ days so far. after the first few days, it's just been a lot of spotting, but it seems like it is never going to end. i'm a little worried -- i've heard that some women end up having a 3 month period while they're on depo. i hope this isn't me!!

Haha, yeah, it's been years since I was off birth control, but when I was off it before, I never tracked my cycle, so I didn't really know how often I got my period then either. I also didn't have any particular reason to care at the time. I did recently come across an entry I wrote in May 2006 (during the year I was off birth control), in which I complained because I hadn't had my period since March and that was 9 months after I went off the pill!! Soooo I may not actually get the kind of regularity I'd like to have. :-/ Boo.

Ugh, that sounds really irritating too! I wouldn't want to be spotting all the time either! I hope that goes away for you and you don't have a 3 month long period!!

Gah at birth control for getting us regular and then being off it setting things all off! I hope your cycle normalizes soon! Were you regular before bc?

Firefly! It amazes me that so much crap is still on the air and quality shows got taken off so early. Meh. I'm glad you're liking it! Let me know what you think overall when you're done with the series and the movie. :-)

Honestly, I don't really remember what my cycle was like before birth control. I was on it when I was 20, then went off it for a year, then went back on when I was 22, and I'd been on it ever since then. Apparently, in may 2006 (the year I was off it), I wrote an entry talking about how I hadn't had my period since March, and that was 9 months after I stopped taking the pill. So I guess I wasn't super regular then either. :-/

Will do, for sure!

:O! Did you worry at all? That's such a long time! *stating the obvious*

;D

From the tone of the entry, I was more irritated than worried. I had been having sex with someone during that time, but we always used condoms, so I was not really worried about possibly being pregnant. (And obviously, I wasn't.)

Omg 51 days???? That would drive me nuts! I'm the sort of person who worries about getting pregnant even while on the pill and having sex using a condom, lol.

What do you do over the summer with your job? Do you get the summer off?

Haha yeah, it just drives me nuts because I want to know when it's coming! I'm not too paranoid about being pregnant, usually.

Yes, I do have the summer off, and for once, I can't wait. This will be the first year that I'll actually get paid over the summer, instead of every previous summer, in which I did not get paid and we had to go into debt just to get through till September. But this is the first year that I've been permanent at work, so that means getting paid year round! Woot!!

Haha. I used to worry about being pregnant even when I wasn't having sex :P I'm over that, thankfully.

Woot!! Now you get to enjoy the fruits of the lower paychecks from earlier! :D Are you going to search out other employment for the summer or just relax?

In previous summers I've tried to find jobs, but this year, I honestly would like to just relax. I'm not opposed to babysitting here and there, but I really don't want anything full time. I want to just chill and enjoy not working and actually still getting paid, plus I'd like to have the freedom to go down to the States for a bit if we can figure out how to afford it.
