Let's talk new television obsessions

• Sherlock (yes the new BBC adaptation everyone is raving about): I just LOVE the characterisations of Sherlock and Watson in this one. Sherlock is so unintentionally hilarious, it's brilliant. And while it's a modern day version of the famous detective stories I find it pretty accurate with what I know of it as well. Even thought we haven't seen ( Read more... )

HEY, BIG BANG THEORY! One of my favourite shows ever. I love those geek boys, and Penny.

Unlike you, I love Sheldon. I can admit his flaws, but I think he is portrayed beautifully and kind of is the crux of the show (although sometimes to the point of over-use). I think the latest season was the weakest of the three, and I didn't care for the Leonard/Penny relationship at all (because I think Leonard needs to focus on Penny as a person, rather than a hot blond). But that is just me!

I love the entire cast. They are always hilarious together and seem like they are great friends as well. And the photoshoot here is lovely. I'm up on everything TBBT because I run jimparsons.net :D

It's not Jim I don't like and I I know he's at the centre of the show (seriously without Sheldon, no TBBT) but as a character he can be soooo annoying! And I just don't understand why the other's put up with him? I haven't seen Jim in anything else yet, I have to admit. I know you run the fansite and I'm sure you've seen most of his work, anything you can recommend?

I don't have a favourite season because they all kinda blended into one for me as I watched all episodes in a row, but I do agree with you on the Penny/Leonard relationship. Speaking of Leonard, i was reading this list of what actors earn for each episode and Johnny gets quite a lot more than Jim. That I don't get, because it's obvious that Sheldon is the main character...

Have you seen Sherlock? I think it started while you were still in the US, but if you haven't seen the pilot yet.. go watch it now!!

I think Sheldon is supposed to be that annoying. But I guess I can tolerate it -- on a weekly basis he isn't so bad. Maybe not so tolerable when one is marathoning all the episodes, lol. Sometimes you do wonder why the other characters put up with Sheldon, but I think he often manages moments of great compassion even if he justifies it as something that benefits him (lol). I do miss the episodes that highlight the underlying friendship. They have been becoming less frequent in the more recent series.

I just think that when Sheldon is nice, it means a lot more because he so rarely does anything he doesn't want to do for anyone apart from himself. I don't know!

Jim's not done a lot of work outside of BBT, apart from theatre mainly. He has a tiny role in Zach Braff's Garden State. It is literally one scene, but he steals it. Should be easy to find on YouTube. Also his interviews with Craig Ferguson are completely priceless ( ... )

Yeah I know he is supposed to be annoying and I do know that that provides the comedy but sometimes it's just too much. Could be because I was marathoning it yeah, will see what I think of it next season.

Oh yeah the Craig Ferguson interviews! I'm going to be looking for those now, I remember how much you liked those (and I always love Craig <3). I think I was planning to watch them but somehow I didn't.

I don't know Kaley from anything else and Johnny just from Roseanne which was years ago haha But I didn't know Jim was unknown before TBBT, good for him on getting this job then.

I can see that the premise of the show as a buddy comedy, but for me Sheldon is very much front and center (his unique social skills provide most of the comedy). But I do very much like what the others characters to the show bring. I am also REALLY curious what's going to be happening between Jim and Mayim's characters next season - as I always assumed he wouldn't be interested in a partner but they are very made for each other.
