A bumblebee! We saw bumblebees everywhere, as they're apparently some sort of symbol for New Zealand (don't ask me why)

They are children's toys. Practically every kid growing up had one of these (including myself). I don't know if they do so much now, but they are totally a symbol of our country. You pull them along behind you on a string and the wings twirl as you go. Low-tech, but awesome :D

Here

I'm glad you enjoyed Wellington. I really love it as a city - it has a nice atmosphere. I was born there actually, but grew up in the South.

I know a abumblebee is a toy, we have them here as well. What I don't know is why it's a symbol for New Zealand specifically? I suppose they originate from here or something...

Wellington was my favourite city on the North Island for sure (unless Hobbiton counts as a city too :P)

Oh cool! I didn't know they were everywhere! I always just thought hey were an NZ toy, heh. Shows how much I know! Wikipedia seems to indicate it originated there, from what I can tell.

Late comment is late, but I've gotta say that picture of Gollum did not kindly invite me in, lmao.

Also, that foot is gross :P

lmfao @ Pinto ~juice~ omg. XD Fandom-y references everywhere are so awesome. Although, that drycleaner's at Platform 9 3/4 is indeed made of failsauce.

And I agree, the random art all over the city is a really cool concept! And pretty! Love it.

The Hangover was hilarious, hee! I'm so happy they're making a sequel! :D

Are you saying you don't think Gollum is cute and inviting? D:

And fyi that foot it's the greatest thing since, well... everything really. :P

I thought you'd like the Pinto Juice (my mind went straight into the gutter with that one)

Your review was actually one of the major reasons I wanted to see this movie (and Bradley Cooper of course), and it was as good as you said it would be. A sequel?? OMG!

Dude, I've heard of Starlight Express but had no idea it was a religious musical! LOL, I'll have to see if it's playing here at some point.

Love the LOTR and Harry Potter stuff, they're showing all the movies this weekend/week cause of the Half Blood Prince coming out.

Tbh, the fact it's a religious musical would be a negative in my book, I don't like it when there's such an obvious reference in a show I watch. But it was alright with Starlight Express, it was quite a spectacle :)

I WANT TO SEE HBP NOW!

Your pictures make my wanderlust bleed.

Random question: dude, when you're home, how far are you from Amsterdam? The reason I'm asking is that I'm looking to probably fly out to Oz again by the end of the year and upon looking up flights I saw that I could choose how long I'd be in Amsterdam for (ie if i just want to be there for an hour or two til my next flight departs, or half a day) and I thought that if you're close-ish to Amsterdam, maybe we could even meet up?

I mean, I still wanna meet up with you some time during the fall, but I just thought I'd check ;) I can never remember whether it's Amsterdam or Rotterdam you live close by.

Take care!

Oh so you are going even though it'd only be for 2 weeks or so? Awesome :) Well if you need any tips/suggestions, let me know as I've been all around Oz as well. Too bad you couldn't come a few months earlier or I still would've been here as well.

Unfortunately I am nowhere near those places. I used to live in Rotterdam (where I was born) which isn't too far from Amsterdam either. But I live in the North of the country now, which is 3.5 hours away or so. Having said that, depending on what your plans are and where I am at at that point (work and living wise) just keep me up to date and we'll see if we can work something out :)

Yeah, it's like you said, it sucks that it will only be about two weeks but in the end I reckon it's better than nothing, right? It is a shame about the crossing times though.

And even though I don't think you should drive all those hours for my sake, I promise I'll keep you updated. Thanks, as always ;)

PS. Your hairy icons ROCKS.
