I saw at the Oxfam shop on Hutt Street last week that they want volunteers. Just in case you're interested. I think it'd be tidying and working behind the counter, I'm not sure.
*hugs* and *more hugs* don't worry about the job thing too much, i'm in the same boat - and i'm turning 21 at the end of the year....
also enjoy your birthday! it will be good, and party shall be fun! I look forward to it anyways ;p (i got my Lucy costume sorted at last :D hooray!) but yes, birthdays come but once a year - enjoy them while they last finally: *hugs again* ;p
Other places to look into for volunteer work are the Red Cross blood centres (you get experience making coffees and telling people to sit down) and Meals on Wheels (I think that even if you can't do the driving stuff, they still look for people to work in the kitchens). Both of these could help with you getting a general food job. Or you could just bite the bullet and work in fast food. But I wouldn't wish that on most people.
And look at it this way, sure you're mom and Cath are choosing the most self-esteem destroying way to convince you to get a job, which sucks. But most people's parents just cut off their money to force the spawn to get employed. Maybe you'll need therapy later in life, but at least for now you can still afford credit for your mobile.
