OMG, I just spent like 10-15 minutes trying (without much hope at all) to find the name of an old '90s PC game we used to like. All I could remember was you flew around bombing various buildings, with an aerial view. So I was Googling things like "PC game bomb buildings" in the image search and hoping a familiar screencap would catch my eye, but as you can imagine, it's a description matching hundreds of games and I didn't recognise any. In a last desperate attempt I tried searching for "shareware PC games" as we rarely paid for any, and an image on literally the THIRD ROW of results looked surprisingly similar to what I had in mind. It took me to an article called
The 12 Greatest PC Shareware Games of All Time... I click through to the fourth page... and THAT'S IT!! The name of the game is
Raptor, published in 1994 by Apogee. Amazing, cannot believe I actually found it!
Ohhhh, this brings it all flooding back!

And while I'm on the whole gaming nostalgia thing, I was totally hooked on Evasive Maneuvers (even if I hate that spelling!) from Exaggerated Software:
