Happenings

Tuesday I set out to make my first ever Crock Pot chicken. I had looked up some seasoning tips and cooking times and then I sort of just figured out my own combo. Cleaning the chicken was ewwie - I never cooked a whole chicken and I'm used to the neatly packaged giblets found in turkeys so cleaning the organs out myself wasn't pleasant. Your dinner(s) sound wonderful!! :) I'm jealous ;)

I hope you like MD. I really enjoyed the area.

Good luck with Christmas! We are hosting this year as well, but hopefully it will be my parents, sister, aunt, and Jason's brother. I'm sure your house will look perfect though :) :)

I need to get more adventurous. We're just getting back into our regular (non-deployment) routine and that means cooking again. I seldom cook for just myself, it feels too lonely. I think this week will be quiche, chili, and a chicken casserole.

We visited MD in January 2005 and I loved it, I'm so excited about being in a more normal climate and being closer to my family.

Thanks! I've done a few Thanksgivings and most of the dishes are the same so I'm not too worried. Plus I'll have mom around to lend a hand. I'm just excited to have both our families together.

(I was already browsing the Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby!)

I've heard of doing that! I just forgot, thanks for the reminder. It would have been nice to put some of my rub mix in there. I've also heard about stuffing the cavity with garlic or lemons of whatever else is bulky but flavourful.

Oh yeah, cooking chicken in the crock pot still just make it fall to pieces...no need for a knife :oP Trying to pack up the leftovers in another adventure :oD

LOL maybe we will join you in DC! I dunno when we're supposed to find out the next step of this Congressional Fellowship...

I found it really easy (although messy) to strip the rest of the bones, skin, etc form the left overs. The fact that the meat doesn't even try to hang on to the bone was helpful!

OOooo, that would be so great! Plus you'd be closer to your family too.

That chicken looks yummy. I've always wanted to cook a whole chicken in my crock pot but just the thought of cleaning the chicken before i put it makes me quesy. I saw a bed of chickens while I was driving before and few of them fell out of the truck. It was sad. I know, I know...it's only chicken, but somehow, it doesn't affect me as much when I see them as tenderloins. weird me.

It wasn't horrible, but unexpected. I was fishing around for the bag when my hand came out with an organ. Yuck. Still, it was worth it. Especially at 80 cents a pound from the commissary. Lisa says Walmart has them already cleaned but they are more expensive and I do my best not to support that store.

MMMMMMMM chicken crock pot, so good!

And, your goal this week, made me set a goal too! I thought, you know if Angela can do all that, I can start small and do something I know I can achieve
