I haven't been getting LJ notifs via e-mail for the better part of a week now. Apparently, it's because hotmail has randomly decided that suddenly, LJ is spam, and they've blocked any e-mail from lj accounts getting through their servers. Which sucks, because I live off notifs and I've already missed some comments/tags that I really would have ( Read more... )

Yeah, I've had my hotmail for years now. It's what I'm used to and I really don't see the need to create a whole new e-mail account just because it's shiny and new.

You can register any e-mail address to be a Passport account -- I've been using my Gmail address for MSN pretty much since I got it. You won't get handy e-mail alerts, but for that you can use the Gmail notifier.

e-mail alerts are what I need, though. I need that little box that pops up to tell me when I've got new mail. And the problem with gmail notifier is the same with Yahoo - I can't download any of that at work. If I could, I'd just switch everything to Yahoo and be just as happy, but I can't.

Ah, that's a problem. Well, you can leave Gmail open in a tab -- it refreshes itself every few seconds and the title bar tells you how many new e-mails you have. That does still involve remembering to glance at it every so often, though.

Or, y'know, Microsoft will stop being asses and let LJ in again.

I do and I could! I am at polar167 at hotmail dot com and I'm on all the time unless I'm sleeping or in transit.

I wonder what if there is anything specifically about the notifications other than coming from LJ, that makes hotmail block them. *ponders*

It's not just comment notifs, though, it's all LJ e-mail. Like, I didn't get the e-mail validation notice when I created a new account and I didn't get the notification when an account had been added to a community. It's everything.
