Wait... what?

LOST isn't airing until February? And it's only going to be basically half a season for the next three years and then... that's it?

Wow. Way to give me ample opportunity to forget it even exists anymore.

lost can be annoying

*shrugs* That's actually been news for a while now. I think they announced the new season plan/end game while Season 3 was still on the air.

I hadn't heard until today, mainly because I finally thought I should check and see if it was starting this week since pretty much everything else is. I was so disappointed with last season, I wasn't interested in looking into "extra" stuff and I bailed out of LOST fandom 6 months into the first season.

This is just... really dumb, in my estimation. I hated the two "mini season" thing they did last year. Chances are, they've lost a viewer, because like hell I'll remember in February that LOST is starting up again. Or remember what happened last year to know what the hell is going on.

Boy, I hope this sort of thing doesn't become a trend. Didn't 24 do this? That at least was so they could run straight through their season. And BSG is doing the half-and-half thing.

LOST failed to hold my interest before; this merely ensures I'll not be trying again.

I think 24 ran a full season, though, so I can understand that - you're still getting a hiatus, but I think it ends up being no longer than a regular season hiatus, it's just at a different time of the year. LOST is only going to be showing 16 episodes for the next three seasons, running from February straight through May. That's 9 months in between seasons, which is plenty of time for people to forget about it.

Doctor Who only airs 13 episodes a season, and no one seems to lose interest. And I think that only doing 16 episodes instead of 22 or more helps the writers not schlep things out.

Also, I would say that at this moment, mere hours before Heroes returns, I am far more interested in Lost than in Heroes. Sometimes it's the quality of the product and not the time you wait that matters. (Nothing against Heroes. I like Heroes. It's fun. But Lost is jsut that much better.)

For me, I think it's an issue in which I haven't been enjoying LOST for the last two seasons, really. I've been very disappointed in it, especially the last half of S2 and the early half of S3. I had told myself that if the S3 finale wasn't good enough, I'd give it up completely. And they stepped it up and I got interested again... only now to find out that that interest is going to have to wait four more months. I'm not sure I'll be interested anymore by then. For me, LOST just isn't doing it enough to wait 9 months for new episodes and only getting a half a season for my patience if I do.
