Artist Alley @ Anime North 2009

Hey all!
Well, as you know, there's this big plan/trip to Japan thing.
And so, this is mostly directed at Ontario's interested participants, or anyone else going to Anime North, but I think it might be a good idea to sell some fanart/original art, or whatnot at the artist alley there.

So here's the thing, it's going to be a little tricky this year, ( Read more... )

You can actually be smart 8D
[jkjk I ♥ you]

but the truth is, it's imposable hard to get a booth, they sell out within the first few minutes, since there are so many people trying to get one. We can try, but we really shouldn't get hopes up too much. Not to mention, I bet there are people who'd rather sell stuff and get money for their own merchendise, since not everyone can draw or cg well *cough* idk. good idea though~ Lets wait and see what other people think

Hey! I can be you know :P

That's true, the other thing is there was last year apparently some sort of 'Garage Sale' type thing where you could sell off your old stuff. But I don't see anything about it on the site so I think they cancelled it this year. Anyways, I figured I'd put this up anyways as a possibility. If anything, we can just go be illegal and sell stuff outside of AN to random passers by whilst trying not to get caught by the staff. Or the cops.

And lol, I'm not like, saying that we take the collected money and split it up, I mean everyone will get paid for their stuff that they sell, but then to not have to pay such a high table cost, we buy it together and split it sort of thing.

Is that so?

LOL. Let's be illigal 8D but mm. Yea, it can't hurt to try :P

mm. I see~ Well, then, there's no point in me paying attention to this XD;; Although no one else seems to be either =/

als;fdjk;ljsg I was going to make this post at the beginning of Feb,
Guess you got to it before me, Lawl.
Actually,
I have a friend that already has a booth at AN,
I could probably ask him if we can share a table, if worst comes to worst.
Also,
About the booths,
It'd be better if only 1 person registered for the booth,
because they can always bring someone else along,
the other person can be rotated every, say 2-3 hours or by day or something.

I'm going to AN this year anyways,
So I'll try to help out the best I can. . .

Ah, the only thing about 'bringing someone else along' is that AN just changed the rules so that only the person(s) registered for the table can be behind it. But I'm assuming they won't ACTUALLY check that very often, unless they see like 5 people behind the table, right?

We just need willing artists now, XD

How about a panel? the_jurie_chan February 6 2009, 04:30:32 UTC
Like the title suggests, we could also do a panel at AnimeNorth, no? There was a panel about the Johnny's Entertainement at Otakuthon (Montreal's convention) and it was pretty popular, the room was full.

It's probably easier to book a panel than a table in Artist Alley too and it's a good opportunity to create new fans as well as exposing the project ^-^

What do you think?

There is a JE panel~ I don't know who runs it though but someone must... it's called 'Jenny's Entertainment'. I assume it will already be registered by now but if someone knows how to contact the people who run it then maybe we could see if there's something we could colab?

Agreed.

Also,
the JE panel will give us no profit, so there really is no point in having one, unless you plan to promote this project, which I think is not needed much at the moment. . . ?

Lol yeah that's what I was thinking... like there are ways that I could think to actually make money off of it (ie. asking to plan an extra activity like making an uchiwa for your fav boy, and participants would like pay a small fee) but even then, with cost of materials and all, I dunno who'd actually be interested, and we'd prolly only make back 10% or something.

But it'd be good that everyone knows there is a panel at Anime North, because I actually totally didn't connect the name with the actual idea of the panel until I was told last year^^;;

Anyways, I guess we'll have to come up with another fundraising strategy, since this one is, well, failed.
