FILTERED TO THE GIRLS

This Homecoming Dance thing. What is it? You all get together and dance? That's it? John says there's something about a theme but my leather works fine.

I agreed to go and I have no clue what I'm doing. Someone please tell me.

Hell if I know, A. Something about looking pretty, hanging out with people you like, and celebrating.

I think it's derived from a Terran tradition of welcoming a sports team of some kind home from a road trip. Usually big parties and lots of drinking.

If you find out anything interesting, let me know. Not of course that I'll be going. But it'd be interesting to know.

(Utterly OOC: Icon squee! I love that picture of her. *g*)

You should come anyway.

(OOC: I need to redo the icon now that I can actually make icons. *g*)

I don't dance. *she shrugs*

(OOC: When you redo it, can I snurch it for my regular LJ? I love Aeryn. You have the best pictures of her!)

Punching things with spikes sounds like fun.

(OOC: Go for it. *g*)

My sister's designer boyfriend says "leather is appropriate for all occasions."

Which is a good squallin' thing, since he's wit' Arsenal.

Basically, yeah, we all get together an' dance, an' someone tries t'spike the punch, an' there'll be at least one tearful breakup. S'loads of fun.

Well, traditionally they get back together by the next day.

Relax, Sun, you've already had your messy party drama for the semester. Hopefully.

If you figure it out, tell the rest of us?

Apparently sports teams come home and you celebrate by being attractive, dancing with people you like, and punching things with spikes. *shrug*

[[OOC: This comment is assuming you filtered it to all girls, not just "The Girls;" feel free to delete if Rogue's not allowed to see it.]]

Homecoming is a dance: you all get dressed up, go hang around in the school gym, which will be decorated all prettily, and dance. Or sit and make fun of other people who are dancing. So basically, you make yourself look gorgeous, and tease the hell out of your date all night.

Make sense?

Dressed up... how, exactly?

Well, guys usually wear suits, or slacks and a nice, button down shirt. Women usually wear dresses, like this one or this one. Or if it's themed, you could go dressed in a similar theme. The 80s would call for something like what they list here. Or just watch Pretty In Pink. Like that.

I think your leather would probably work with the 80s theme.

The "Homecoming" part of it is ridiculous, since it's meant to be a dance that's aimed at getting alumni to attend and donate money.

We don't have alumni.

We also don't have any sports teams (yet), which is supposed to be the other half; a celebration of the last game of a season.

That said... *rolling eyes* It can be fun. If you don't take it too seriously. Since you've got John, that's one ridiculous hurdle already crossed.

The leather should be fine. Just tell them you're going as Madonna. Or one of Prince's dates. Get a matching bustier and no one will question it.
