Room 209, Saturday morning

Aeryn wakes up, blinks, and puts down the driver's ed book that she'd still been holding after falling asleep studying. And then she looks over and sees the boy that was helping her study actual studying, completely innocent omg and really really hopes she doesn't get into trouble for this. She's pretty sure it's against regulations.

"Yeah. Army men are cool. Wanna go outside?"

"Okay," she says, but she doesn't know where to go.

"Come on!" John reaches for her hand. "I can help."

Aeryn takes his hand, and lets him lead the way. Because he's older, you know.

John opens the door to her room and leads her outside, keeping a grip on her hand.

"Ooooh! An elelator!" He points to the elevator. "Let's play on the elelator!"

"They're not for playing," says Aeryn sternly.

"Yeah huh." John tugs her along. "Like a spaceship! C'mon!"

Aeryn goes along with him, but says, "They're not for playing on command carriers, either."

"We're not on a corn carrier," John says smartly. He gets to the elevator and tugs Aeryn inside. Then he presses all the buttons he can reach.

"You're gonna break it!" she says, eyes wide as the doors close.

"Am not!" The elevator starts moving up. "Wheeeee!"

John twirls around.

"Where are we going?" she asks.

"Space!" John points upwards. "Where the stars are! And I'll name a star after you!"

Aeryn looks up, because maybe there are special elevators here. "That's not how you get to space," she says.

John groans at her and hits some more buttons. They start going down now.

"Stop being boring!"

"I'm not boring!" she says, maybe pouting a little. She's five.
