Rory caught sight of a tall, familiar figure heading into a room a couple doors down from her own, and ducked back into 213 to grab her phone. By the time she was in the hall again, however, Aeryn had shut the door.

So she opted to go over and knock. "Aeryn? It's Rory."

She's almost tempted to just ignore it because she really is in that sort of mood, and by the sounds of it, people know she's here. At least everyone wouldn't be surprised when she showed up in class tomorrow.

She opens the door and manages a "Hi."

"Hi," Rory replied, smiling. She held off on the hug, because Aeryn just really did not seem like she was in the mood for one. "Um, so...I heard you came back. Is everything all right? And I have more animal pictures. John was a seahorse and a puffin. Oh, and a hat."

"It's been a very long day," she admits, and frowns. "He was a what?" She hasn't even heard of those things. Well, the hat.

Rory held up her phone. "Seahorse," she said, showing the pictures from the day before. "And puffin," she added, changing it.

On one hand, Aeryn's vaguely annoyed that this was what John was doing while she was shooting at things, but at the same time, there are important questions that need to be asked, such as, "Does he just walk into the room and get turned into something at this point?"

"Today he was asking about pie," Rory said. "And then muffins, and then puffins rhymes with muffins and you can see the train of thought."

Aeryn doesn't hear in English. She so doesn't see the train of thought. "Good to know he's still himself," she says.

"Uh huh. So how come you came back?" Rory asked a bit awkwardly. "Is everything okay? I mean, I thought this was like a...permanent thing."

Cally runs in, gives Aeryn a quick hug, beams for a second, and runs off again.

No one really knows about the injury, so Aeryn'll forgive it with a wince.

But she still lets Rory in and closes the door. "It was supposed to be. There was a change of plans," she says.

"Everything okay?" Rory repeated.

Aeryn pauses, and is really aware that she's actually saying this for the first time. "They kicked me out, basically," she says.

"Oh."

Rory tried to process this, and thought back to her conversation with John the other night.

"Is it because they found out about you and John?"

"No," she says, taking a seat on the bed. "Though that did absolutely nothing to help my defense. That was... what's the phrase? Nail in the coffin? After that, they weren't really intent on listening to anything I had to say."

"Yeah, he said that they kind of frown on it," Rory said grimly as she sank into Aeryn's desk chair. "Do you want to talk about what happened?"
