More often than I might like. My city is sworn to a larger, sovereign city-- or we were. As such, we were called upon to be first respondents to any threat against her.

Mm, a recent development. We were granted our independence as reward for exceptional service to the Duke of Ghor and head of the counsel. It's taken me a bit to get used to the idea.

We have been beholden to them since my grandfather's time, and my father worked all his life to free us from them, as have I. I suppose I am simply unused to the idea that it's a dream realized.
