[ newly arrived in camp is a man wearing a helmet. it's the middle of summer and the helmet is made out of metal. he may appear slightly overheated but is valiantly ignoring this.

perhaps you can convince him to take it off. ]

*MUTANT-PING*

There's quite an influx of new arrivals, it seems.

Well, I haven't been here that lo-- ...

[okay you're a lot younger than you're supposed to be but you're familiar too and if Magneto can be here, then so could you what is even going on]

And it seems that my identity, if not necessarily my reputation, precedes me once again.

Sorry-- even if I had been expecting this, you're... different from what I'm used to.

*nods*

That's been the case with everyone I've encountered so far.

*holds out his hand to him*

Professor X, as of the year 1962. It's a pleasure to meet you.

It's enough to weird both sides out.

[extending his own hand and shaking]

Jay Guthrie, from a few decades later. It's nice to meet you, sir.

I won't deny that.

It's August 2011 here now. How far have you come?

2011? That means... a few years, then.

Well, you don't have as much catching up to do as I did, at least. Though I use "catching up" very generally -- there are apparently a number of different timelines that meet here.

So I've been learning. If someone's got the power to create an inescapable summer camp, being able to do something like bring different timelines together doesn't seem that improbable, either.

Indeed. It also makes it important, however, not to let one's mind get turned by the chaos of so many alternate realities.

Are you a student at my school?

I think I'll be able to manage.

That's right. [thinking about his classmates as well as the aftermath of M-Day] A lot has happened since I started, but it's an amazing place.

*smiles, despite the sinking feeling that some of those thoughts cause*

I'm glad. And I'll be doing my best to maintain what I can here. Not that school necessarily need be in session, but there's no reason for a change in location to cause us to be entirely inactive.

*thoughtful expression, with a faint smile*

That's a good idea for whenever I get back home...

[there's a lot of uncertainty about school rolling around up here still, but]

Well, we've had permission to camp out overnight before on the school grounds. It's not quite the same, but I'm sure everyone'd like it a lot more than anything this place has to offer.
