[hello.

it's been a peaceful night so far, hasn't it? the weather is beautiful tonight. warm air drifts through the open window, a pleasant breeze filling your room. the onset of spring has spurred the swamp's nightlife into motion, and as you lie back in your bed tonight, the gentle lull of chirping crickets drifts in around you. at times like these, you think, the burden of being trapped in a brain-addled summer camp feels almost a bit lighter. this place, for all its perils and embarrassments, has never done lasting personal harm to you or those you love. in fact (you're a bit ashamed to think) you could almost like it here, when it's as peaceful as this.

-- but then you hear a far off explosion, and then you even feel it. a small earthquake rattles your room. leaping from bed, you look out through your window and see a large plume of smoke rising up somewhere just beyond the barrier.]

[amazingly, the landscape has been lit up enough that you can see a figure moving against the fire's light. with much squinting, you make out a tall, hooded figure's silhouette closer by. some of camp's older inhabitants may recognize him, if you already don't.

a crowd of your peers is beginning to gather outside, campers and counselors, friends and foes alike staring at the fire burning steadily in the distance.

do you go and speak with them?
