Spring Cleaning

Mar 26, 2009 16:24

As I'm sure you're all aware, spring has settled quite securely into place here. What patches of snow remained from the scattered blizzards these past few months have all but vanished (once again, as I'm sure we've all noted, leaving all forms of tropical pests in the area completely unharmed). And with it has gone all concealment for the fact that this camp is in positively deplorable shape.

Look around you. Fallen shingles. Gaping slits in cabin walls. Uniformly shoddy and haphazard repair work. Overgrown tangles of dead grass, heaps of last fall's leaves, and zombie remains that have sat so long in the roadways that the bones are picked clean.

And if that isn't enough, the insides of our public buildings are indisputably worse. Dried food splattered under mess hall tables, the wreck that has been made of the supplies in the arts and crafts hut (and whoever thought that turning one of the storage cupboards into a 'fort' of dried glue, felt, an popsicle sticks, your artistic endeavours are neither appropriate not appreciated), and while the mess of fluids splattered to the shower walls likely cannot be blamed on any particular individual, the fact that it has been there long enough to harden into a second glaze on the tile most certainly can.

I would highly encourage you all to spend whatever few days we may have before the next calamity seriously attending to the state of not only the public buildings here, but your private residences as well. Cleaning supplies are easily accessible in any number of places, though may apparently need to fight through the cobwebs of disuse to access them. There is also a noted shortage of buckets -- if those of you with leaking roofs would kindly attend to the source of your problem so that they may be returned, it would be appreciated.

As a related note, mats have been instilled on all major doorways leading to the underground labs. Those found not to be using them may consider themselves volunteered for mopping the spring mud from the corridors.

((OOC: Zexion's around to hand out mops and assign locations to those that have nothing better to do, but if you'd rather, feel free to do some of your own cabin cleaning!))
