[SO sometimes Hakuren reads aloud to Razette and anyone who happens to be nearby. He's a bit under the weather, what with getting tossed around a bit, which means he hasn't been able to do it much recently. This has put some people out, including Domyoji. I suspect because the book is trying to convey the message that even strange things can taste fine, if you give them a chance.

But it's more entertaining for children this way.

Ah... in that case, the reluctant character appearing older was intended to poke fun at adults. Not many things I can think of offhand would be more convincing.
