It has the songs on it, right? Can't you just plug it into speakers and listen to it that way?
If your ipod is set up so that you can't listen to it unless it is connected to a computer, that's kinda lame. The whole point is that it's supposed to be portable.
i have headphones and stuff so i can listen to it any time, but i wanted it to play through my computer speakers? Don't i have to plug that into the usb port to make that happen?

Are your computer speakers external to the computer? Unless your computer is making vitally important sounds that you need to hear on your speakers, you can unplug the speakers from the computer and plug them into the ipod. Of course you don't have the nifty iTunes interface, but it will play.
