You know for your first fic this is impressive! You've captured Charlie really well in this, his despair and his need to reach out for something better, a life he knows he'll never have.

I love this! Five Things, present tense, Charlie - yay! So poignant and regretful, with the irony of him being safe but unfulfilled. Love the first line, and fate working against him in a different way, and the sadness of his longing for the guitar. a gleaming ruby red, darker than the bright, wretched fluid he's been accustomed to for the past few years - like that, it really works to show how much he wants it, and the contrast between he has and what he wants.

And Liam gets away again. Grrr.
