Anders finally emerged from 227 around noon and paused on his way down the hallway to poke his head into Cameron's room.

"Heading out for the weekend, Mitchell?" he asked, stating the obvious.

"You should be," Anders said, although privately he was wondering how Mitchell could kiss Veronica Mars, of all people. "Functional relationships are not something you take for granted."

[cameronmitchell]

"No," Cameron agreed, remembering exactly what had happened almost a year ago now and the whole lot of screws that had come afterwards. "They really shouldn't be. I got lucky with Veronica. You're going to get lucky again too, you know?"

"I keep trying to tell myself that. It's the waiting between now and then that's a bitch," Anders replied with a crooked grin. "Say hi to her for me," he added, wondering how she'd react to that.

Cameron nodded and added the coupon to the pile. "Will do. I'll tell her she should thank you for the laundry coupon."

"Think that'll get me back off her bad side?" Anders wondered.

"Depends," Cameron studied him. "How did you get on her bad side to begin with?"

"You know, I actually have no idea any more," Anders admitted. "Ironically, I think it had something to do with boykissy."

[cameronmitchell]

Cameron blinked. "If you can't remember then it's probably not worth it," he said.

"Probably not," Anders conceded. We just think it's funny. "We just manage to get on each other's nerves somehow."

"Huh," Cameron stratched the back of his neck. "I know the feeling." Except that usually it tended to happen with exes or anyone who seemed interested in flirting with his girlfriend.

"Sorry," Anders said sheepishly. "Don't want you to end up, like, in the middle of some stupid feud or anything like that."

[cameronmitchell]

"I think I'll manage," Cameron assured him. "Unless you guys are going to take it to extremes. In which case, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pick sides and the odds are slightly more in Veronica's favour. Sorry."

"Mitchell, I'm too lazy to take it to extremes," Anders promised. "Wouldn't hold it against you if you sided with her, though."

"Well for now I remain on neutral terms with the both of you," he said, amused.

"Less neutral in her case, Mitchell, don't lie," Anders said, grinning. "Look, have a blast, okay? I'm gonna head out for food, or something."
