Once it was dark, Cameron took Joan down to the hotel. His nerves were definitely gone by now even if he spent his time waiting for Veronica to show talking to Joan and reassuring her that Veronica was going to like her.

Veronica came outside when she got Cameron's call and smiled. "Oh, she's beautiful," she said, walking over and examining Joan.

Cameron beamed proudly. "Fandom's finest," he said, patting the saddle.

After a slow circuit around the bike, Veronica reached out and lightly stroked one handlebar. "Hi there, Joan," she said.

"See?" Cameron said smugly. "I told you she'd like you." Yes, he was talking to the bike.

Cameron leaned his head against the wall as he watched Veronica open the door to her room. It was even later than when they made it back from the dance, as they went back to the dorms for a moment to store Joan up in the garage. He wondered if it was a good idea that he came back with her to the hotel, though, as he was having a hard time trying not to think that she was leaving again tomorrow.

"I can't believe how fast this weekend is going," Veronica commented as they entered her room. "But I'm really glad we got to spend this time together."

[cameronmitchell]

"Yeah, I know," he sighed and stuffed his hands in his pockets.

"Hey," she said, giving him a look. "Don't go getting all sad on me."
