It's an old idea. If the materials for a more sophisticated generator can't be found, then I can modify my plans to include a series of wooden watermills and a dam.
I haven't been able to devise a long-term solution to that part of the problem. I will need to compile a larger inventory of parts or suitable alternatives before I consider that, but there are other uses for electrical generation in the meantime.
Yes. At present my idea for that particular part is a construct of wood, a series of water-mills.
For the batteries, I will need to consider older forms of technology than the ones I am most familiar with. We do not have the materials for the proper chemical isotopes, and I don't know if there is sufficient zinc and copper for creation of a voltaic pile.

There's a few problems with the idea. There's definitely a constant kinetic movement available in the river, but it's not a very big river and doesn't have a fast-moving current. Your options'd be to move closer to a fast-moving current, meaning building closer to the mountains, or making a dam. Then you'd run into the problem of materials and project scope -- you could probably still make an electric generator, but not one big enough to produce constant energy for the village.
And that's not even taking into consideration that the village isn't equipped for electric appliances.
I have considered that. You are a very negative person.
My idea is to use a dam, close to the village for lack of proper load capacity and electric wire system, and built of wood and stone. I have been exploring. There are many trees. There is sufficient stone.
Then a series of linked wind- and water-mills will be able to furnish crude generation. It is not part of the plan to furnish the entire village with electricity in the beta-test phase. There are other needs of power than the village's own comfort.
I have thought it through. I would not ask until I had devised a plan.
But h--people can be troublesome about changes to their environment. The plans include the building of a dam and several structures along it. Then there is talk about magic and spirits. I do not understand these, and do not know how they might affect this project.

There's not a single freaking piece of technology in this damn place that isn't already in use by the other 'residents'.

Well... yeah... so?

Unless you have some way of building a generator from wood, that is.

Someone could sacrifice a stove.

Not a bad idea, kid. Of course, we need a way to store and distribute the power, but a working turbine ain't nothing to scoff at.
