This is fantastic, really intense! I love Uther's twisted logic of using Merlin as a substitute for both Arthur and Morgana. I especially loved the bit about Uther being able to smell Arthur on Merlin.

and actually I am not sure, if its juts me reading it like this , but couldn't it be also that Merlin could *maybe* just want Uther in this verse?
coz he thinks, he can't have arthur , but Uther is kinda the closest to a substitute for him as well :D
anyway, that is my interpretation *g*

Thanks very much! And I like your interpretation, by the way. I pretty much pushed for the "Merlin would prefer not doing this" angle, but yep, in this Uther could easily be a substitute for Merlin too. I mean, "shudders" is not really that far removed from a more pleasant "shivers," is it? :D
