*is overwhelmed* Thanks so much! And I'm so glad you said it had a lyrical flow- it was what I was aiming for, but I was intensely worried that I'd overdone it. Again, thank you. (Your icon's really pretty, by the way.)

I loved the awkwardness of Uther when it came to Gwen. He didn't know how to be just Uther but always king. Great job.

Thank you! I kind of love the idea of Uther being awkward and unable to separate himself from his position, so I'm really happy you mentioned that. (Plus you enunciated my thoughts way better than I ever could.)

Ooooooh, this was so completely delightful! Uther/Gwen is a ship that I am always yearning for people to write, and you tackled them magnificently. Uther was very much the flummoxed Uther that I adore, and you did a great job of capturing his guilt and his denial of that guilt. He's still in the mindset that he did what he had to do, but he still feels that guilt gnawing away at him, and so he fixates on Gwen. I loved the progression of his interest in her, and their little interaction in the hall was so utterly perfect. She teased him! And, if Uther would ever allow himself to blush, I could see him blushing after he realized that she teased him. And the flowers! And Morgana! Just... everything about this fic was marvelous.

Thank you so much, this is a wonderful comment. I swear you've understood what I was trying to do with this fic even better than I did when I was writing it, which is totally brilliant. I'm glad you thought the hall interaction went well; I was unsure whether Gwen would actually tease him, but I figured, she talked back to Arthur, why not Uther? And yay for Uther/Gwen support! It's a pairing that came upon me rather unexpectedly (then again, sometimes I think Uther/everyone is my OTP), and is currently trying to consume my soul.

Also, I'm kind of completely excited about your comment purely because I've read your Uther/Morgana ship manifesto about 16,743 times and was previously hero-worshipping you from afar (i.e. before I got an lj). So, thank you again.

Okay dude, now you've got me blushing. *blushes* See? Also, I approve of Uther/Everyone (but I tend to leave out Gaius. Poor Gauis). My dream threesome is Uther/Morgana/Gwen. Or Uther/Merlin/Morgana. Basically, I just want everyone to ravish Uther. Except Gaius. I've even pondered Uther/Sophia. *facepalm* But he looks her up and down when he first sees her! This is not my crazy brain's fault! But anyway, I've always had a soft spot for Uther/Gwen, and I think it ties into my love for Uther/Morgana, because the only person who really loves Morgana as intensely as Uther does is Gwen, and she seems to recognize that Uther loves Morgana more than Morgana realizes.

It's alright to reply again, right? Hope you don't mind. My first ship for Merlin (Merlin/Arthur hardly counts) was actually Uther/Gaius, but it soon progressed to Uther/Everyone. I had to create a backup pairing: Gaius/Geoffrey, with Gaius having unrequited love for Uther, because Uther/Morgana is too hard to shake. Uther/Sophia, eh? How about Uther/Hunith, something a friend of mine thought too awful to consider? (I'm not sure what makes Uther so easy to ship. It may have something to do with Anthony Head, but I'm sure my Uther sim is similar. God.) I love your explanation for how Uther/Gwen works within an Uther/Morgana framework. I think I'd have to agree with the dream threesome too. Though, I have to add Uther/Morgana/Gaius. She's his favourite patient! It works! *hides*

Wow. This isn't a pairing I ever thought could work (except maybe in a really awful non-con way), but this is really a wonderful piece. Well done!

Yes, I definitely get the non-con vibe with this pairing too and may even have considered writing it. Of late, weirdly, I've been considering ideas that border on fluff. However, back to my main point: thanks very much! :)
