That was wonderful. I loved the awful dinner and the way Uther finally realized that they were married and staying that way. Well done.

Thank you! Awful family dinners are always fun. I almost regret not including Morgana for even more tension, but I think it worked better this way.

What a well written, engaging and emotionally fulfilling story. Merlin's first encounter with Uther couldn't have been more humiliating and I had to feel the poor guy's pain and panic at verything going wrong in the kitchen. I was sorry that his stress was reasonably founded in Uther being a total dick and thought this story was going to be about these men standing up for themselves and putting Uther in his place.

Thank you for going somewhere totally unexpected and making this about family love and acceptance. Freya was perfectly cast as the birth mother and she obviously couldn't have selected a more loving family for her child. You've actually made me think Uther is going to be a happy, doting grandfather to Noel and a much less critical and disdainful ass to his son-in-law. His tears and obvious happiness for these two made me tear up, too. Well done!

Thank you! I have complicated feelings about Uther, but in the end I think he really did care about his family, and I think something like this would be a moment of clarity for him. I've seen it happen in my own family--grandbabies can get people over a lot of prejudice, very quickly. Not always, and that's very hard and sad for the children and grandchildren involved, but it can definitely be transformative.
