Oh goodness, that's a complex emotional piece. Beautifully wrought and terribly sad. The last line, as with all good drabbles, is a killer.

This is a powerful, emotional piece. Arthur is to blame for using Merlin in such a manner. He wasn't the shining, just ruler Merlin thought he was destined to help and it hurts that he's misused his friend this badly.

I have always been fascinated by the idea of Arthur being too accepting of Merlin's talents. I've always wondered what Merlin do if Arthur asked him for something that violated his conscience.
