Dark!Merlin is my personal favourite. As to how he ended up like that... Well. This was supposed to be a much longer story, except I never got around to actually writing it. This prompt reminded me of a few ideas and I just wanted to play around with them :)

Omg, I freaking love dystopian future magic fics, so this just hit all my buttons! I can't help but be more curious about the whole backstory, but you packed a lot of info in such a small amount of words. Great job!

Poor poor Arthur. HIs feelings are in a knot. I hope he finds peace some day.

I love how you've written it, so that readers can see that there really is something unhinged, something wrong with this Merlin.

Heh. I'm all about angst recently, but I'm sure there's a happy ending for them both (at least there should be). And well... Crazy!Dark!Merlin is a) fun to play around with and b) somehow still cute.
