Nice one. Poor Gwen, but really Arthur's heart is always going to belong to Merlin. At least she can see that. And hey, being queen has to be better than scrubbing floors, she's not got it so bad :D

I've never really tried to attempt drabbles, because it takes such a high level of skill to introduce the characters and their mindset, the setting, the emotional dilemma, and the story that you want to get across, all in 100 words.

This story does all of those things so deftly, with a poetry and rhythm to it. I feel for Gwen, but I feel for Arthur as well, am grateful for those moments of boyish escape from formality that Merlin provides for him. Beautifully done.

Wow, thank you. I'm glad you feel for Gwen and Arthur. In my head Arthur and Gwen's relationship is more courtly and Arthur's relationship with Merlin is all about home. That's what a marriage should be. A safe place to land. A place to be yourself. I really hope they get the chance to have that in the future.

I obviously think about these characters too much :D

Gwen might have the King’s ring but Merlin has Arthur's heart. Isn't that the sad truth. Poor Gwen. Well done with the prompt filling!

Poor Gwen, indeed. She may be Queen but that's all she is to her husband. It really is sad.

Hopefully she'll have a long reign to get over it.
