\o/ for the creation of the Pensieve! I freaking LOVE this, regardless of whether you think it's crap. What a PERFECT reason for its invention. It makes SO much sense!

The mercury-look to the memories is an invention of the movies I think. In the books, the memory strands were described as being neither gas nor liquid.
