I love the small details in this. Merlin's three generous red plastic cups of beer coupled with Freya blathering on about her dissertation had Merlin fuzzy headed and mentally floating until Arthur's laughter cut through the haze and reeled him in.

His immediate need to get close to the other boy and see what had grabbed him was a delight. I can just see him hovering on Arthur's periphery, too shy to move in but too hooked to leave, grinning like a bit of an idiot until having to break contact to pee.

Arthur following him was a welcome surprise and the kissing was more welcome still. I think Merlin's right in thinking they're just starting. It's wonderful.
