Gwaine should hook Merlin up with Arthur, so he can forget Cendred and perhaps his crush on Gwaine.

I do like that Merlin understands his feelings.

That is a good idea, but unfortunately not how the story goes. Gwaine and Arthur are in quite separate parts of Merlin's world. I can assure you that Merlin does forget about Cenred because he disappears from Merlin's life, but Gwaine stays and so does that small flame.

Hmm...this is the backstory for "Updating"? If that's the case, it sounds like Merlin wasn't the only one making assumptions here.

I liked how Merlin understood how things were with him and Gwaine and that he was content with the friendship. Good job with this.

Yeah, sometimes it is hard for people to stay friends when there is that one person who would like more out of the relationship. But in this case, I think Merlin is very determined to keep his feelings grounded and I think the age gap and difference in experience help Merlin keep his distance.
