Merlin and Morgana held hands as they drove downtown. “I can’t believe this is our first official date,” Morgana said.
“I know. It’s taken us a while to get here, hasn’t it?” Merlin replied.
“I can already see us at my favorite Thai place.”
“Thai? I always imagined you as an Italian girl.”
“Italian’s okay, but Thai is my first love.”
Merlin frowned. “I’ve wanted to take you to my favorite Italian place since I first met you.”
“That’s sweet, but I’m driving, and we’re having Thai tonight.”
“Morgana, I asked you out, and I think we should get Italian.”
Morgana pulled over and stopped the car. “Are we having our first fight?”
“What?”
“Are we having our first fight?”
“Oh. Wow. I guess we are.” They both laughed.
“How about we have something completely neutral? Look up recommendations on your phone.”
“Okay,” Merlin said. He pulled out his phone and searched for restaurants near them. “Hey, there’s a Middle Eastern place not too far away. I’ve always wanted to try shawarma.”
“Me too! I’ve never thought to go to a Middle Eastern place before.”
“Great! Let’s go.”
“Merlin? I’m sorry that we argued.”
“Me too. I’d like to say it’s never going to happen again, but it probably will.”
Morgana grinned. “Yeah. But let’s always try to compromise.”
“It’s a deal.”
