Merlin was a thief.
But Arthur ignored the constant loss of sausages from his breakfast plate, just as he overlooked the absolute shambles of his chambers, and Merlin disappearing for hours on end at the tavern.
It was Merlin’s smile that did Arthur in. Or maybe the cheeky way Merlin made up nonsensical words. Or his gaze, watching Arthur as if he were the sun and Merlin the adoring moon. His struggle to be there for Arthur no matter how dangerous.
Yes, Merlin was a thief, for he’d stolen Arthur’s heart long ago.
Arthur wouldn’t have it any other way.
