Gwaine sat down, reaching for his ale and looking morose. "Merlin, my friend, you know what they say about broken bones and sticks and stones-"
"That words will never hurt you?"
"Yep. But I just found out that they're completely wrong, whoever 'they' are."
"Oh. I'm sorry." It wasn't like Gwaine to be this despondent, Merlin knew. "Did someone say something awful?"
Gwaine nodded, moping. "The bar-maid mentioned that my hair is quite nice-looking."
"And that... hurt you?"
"Of course it did. I spend a lot of time and effort on my hair. It isn't just nice-looking, it's bloody gorgeous!"
