Merlin came home to find Morgana in the nursery, sitting on a pillow. She had her eyes closed and was breathing deeply. He wanted to ask her what she was doing, but it looked like she was meditating. And he didn’t want to disturb her if that was the case.
He took a step back and the floor squeaked. She opened her eyes and looked up at him. “What are you doing standing there?” she asked.
“What are you doing on the floor?” he replied.
“Meditating. I read somewhere that it’s good for the baby.”
“Okay. I see no problem with that. Except, do you need a hand to get up?”
Morgana attempted to stand on her own and failed. “I guess so.”
Merlin walked over and extended both hands to her and pulled her up to stand. “So why meditate in here?”
“It’s empty and quiet. It feels like a sanctuary.”
“Good enough for me. Do you plan to do it often?”
“Every day, if I can manage it.”
Merlin smiled. “Good, then I’ll know not to bother you when I get home, like I did today. Sorry about that.”
“It’s okay. I didn’t warn you.” She kissed his cheek and her stomach rumbled. They laughed. “Is dinner soon?”
“As soon as I can make it.”
