Forgetting for a moment the betrayal Arthur ran to Merlin and the air crackled around them, but Arthur stopped when he saw Merlin’s golden eyes.
“Those eyes you did bewitch me! Guar…”
“I love you,” Merlin said getting up from the bed.
Arthur turned away and refused to look at Merlin. Breathing hard he asked Gaius “How long?”
“Sire?”
“How long is the pregnancy?”
“A wizard’s birth is accelerated so 5 months,” Gaius answered.

Without facing Merlin Arthur said “You may remain in the castle until the baby is born then I want you to leave Camelot, My son shall remain here with me.”
“Sire!” Gaius said
“Arthur. no! You can’t do that! That is my child too!”
“Did you know” Did you know that you could get pregnant?
“I-I yes I knew but…”
“ You deceived me yet again.”

“My King you w-wanted me too and you need an-an heir. I was only thinking of-f that and the fact that I was f-finally going to be with you, that you saw me as more than just your manservant,” Merlin sobbed as he went to Arthur. “My King look at me’
Arthur knew he shouldn’t but he did. Merlin’s once blue eyes were clouded over with tears and that lithe body that he had once held was racked with sobs.
Arthur was angry and hurt. Merlin had betrayed him lied to him all their years together. Merlin who he had trusted with his life and believed. If Merlin said the sun set in the east he’d believe him because Merlin always had his best interest at heart. He could would never forget but could he be a forgiving King and forgive?

Arthur started crying. Merlin had only seen him cry one other time during their years together and that was when Uther had died. “You don’t have to leave Camelot, and we’ll raise our child together…”
Merlin felt a ray of hope that was crushed in the next moment,
“…but I will never be able to forget this betrayal.” In time I might forgive you and I might even trust you again or love you”
Arthur ‘s words hit Merlin harder than a fist and he reached for his king, but Arthur moved away. He couldn’t give in now, he was King of Camelot. He had his pride. Merlin had lied to him and deceived him.
“Sire I am so sorry.”
Arthur’s tears were beginning to unnerve Merlin, “I-I know, I am too, but what is done is done and cannot be undone”
I can’t leave our boys like that
Five months later
Merlin lay in the royal bed, alone in the room except for Gaius. “I want to be with them.”
“You need to rest, your magic has waned as well as your strength.”
Merlin looked towards the door as it opened and Qwaine and Lancelot came in.
“He’s beautiful,” Qwaine said”
“And he has Arthur’s ears, thank God,” Lancelot chimed in.
“How are you feeling?”
“Can we get you anything”
Merlin tried to sit up but thought better of it
“My King and my son”
“Afraid that may take a while,” Lancelot said.
Just then the door opened and four guards entered followed by Arthur holding his son while the four remaining guards stayed outside.
Percival, Leon and Elyan waited to be released from their duty before going to Merlin. Everyone was talking at once.
Gaius spoke up “You must all leave Merlin needs his rest”
Arthur saw that they were leaving, but not fast enough. “You heard Gaius, my husband and your future King needs his rest.” Arthur dismissed them all and finally when he was alone with Merlin he lay down beside him with their son between them.
“How are you feeling?”
“Hmmm, tired but good”
“How’s your magic?”
Merlin held out his hand and his eyes turned a pale gold. “Still not there.”
“Well we have to work on that because aside from your coronation I also attend to elevate you to Court Sorcerer. The baby cooed. “Harry likes that.”
“As do I Merlin,” said Arthur as he reached over and kissed him.
