Cheap Eats

We have been doing so good for eating in lately - I was paid today and kind of surprised at the amount of money left in the bank at the end of the month. I wasn't quite feeling that way when I spent $105 on three bags of groceries at Safeway on Sunday though!

It's true that I bought some indulgences like a box of bakery cookies for work and some ( Read more... )

Your entry title REALLY caught my eye :D *lol* Saving money and coming up with some good meals in the process--can't beat it!

I actually saw a sign in a greasy spoon back in the '70s that said that :D It was somewhere in the midwest but I can't remember where. Had all sorts of stereotypical signs up like "fried pots" and misspelled words :D Good food, though.

Totally all about the cheap eats :-). When we go to the US I am always amazed by how cheap food is. A typical fast food meal is $10 a person in Canada, whereas when we went to Sandpoint, Idaho a few years ago we wer able to eat 2 for $10. Minds blown.

There was a pancake house in Seattle that we loved. I couldn't tell you the name of it. It's next to a combo grocery store and casino though :-)

Fast food prices here are pretty high. I can get some good meals at greasy spoon-type joints, little Chinese places and the like for much less. I still go to McDs at 3rd and Pine because it is a total dive, a hellhole on a block they call The Blade *lol* Most of the people on that block either use our services or know me from the outreach days so it's a fun experience.
