The best part about multiple crockpots is that you don't have to wait while one is in the dishwasher! I made a simple dish tonight with carrots, beef, vegetable broth, carrots, potatoes and celery. That first paragraph sounds wonderful, it's so nice to have a dish like that on a regular basis. Very true about costs. They're saying now, based on studies, that people who cook are naturally healthier and thinner than people who eat out.

You can shred and freeze cabbage, it's nice to keep track of things that will freeze and the best way to do so. Sardines never exist long enough in my home to expire. Mmmm.

Cooking more at home sounds like an excellent New Years resolution!

Yes, I really like simple meals,it's what I grew up with. I forgot to toss a quarter cup of red lentils in.

Oh, thanks for the reminder on freezing cabbage. I think you or someone else mentioned it to me before. I do blanch and freeze vegetables.

Ugh, yes, eating out is so calorific and way too full of sodium. But it's the easiest route too :P

As Alice Waters discovered, simple allows the food to shine; Mm, I like lentils and they're a great source of protein.

The big secret to most "delicious" food is heat (they get fire hotter than an average kitchen), fat, and salt. When I feel luxurious, I add a bit more of those things. It's surprising that they still get away with not having to label things while everything in a supermarket (except gmo) is.

I have had a new appreciation for fat :) It's really not as villainous as it is made out to be, or at least butter sure isn't.

BTW, I sent you something, so check your mailbox!
