Winter Cicada...

Beautiful, tragic... freak-ing heartbreaking!!!  And yet somehow, for all its sorrow, the end is strangely... happy?  In a poetic sense?  I dunno, but I've always been a real sucker for imagery and symbolism *coughsandyaoicoughs* and this movie has it.  So I'm a happy camper.  Sadness 'n all.

Yeah, I'm sick...

But the sex was lovely!

It was fucking depressing. :(

I liked the manga better when they were filming it and Iwaki and Katou were playing around.

But the symbolism is very touching. And the attention to details

H'yep. It was a depressing time. Given what was happening in their country and then add the fact that a) they were from different clans and b) they were lovers, there was no way this could have been happy.

I would have liked to see them spending more time together though *nods*, of the intimate variety. But on the other hand, if they had done that then this movie would have been horrendously depressing!

I think the story kind of redeemed itself at the end though. Though so very sad, I was 'happy' with it. All said and done, I really enjoyed it and thought it well made and beautiful. Besides I don't think any 'serious' yaoi movie is going to be happy... I mean, look at the taboo subject matter!! But it would be nice to have a 'happy ending' every once in a while ;3

Well, Haru wo deiitai (ignore my spellings) has a happy ending. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it does have the same characters. :D

I know what you mean, hard to come across good yaoi movies with this quality of seriousness which is happy.
