I have gotten a new fandom to play with - The Vampire Diaries - and it has a shocking lack of good fic that it's not funny and this has made me go on a spree of fic reading from my other favourite fandoms

The fic in TVD is the saddest thing about the fandom. I don't understand why there isn't a huge wealth of great fic. There's SO MUCH to work with on the show. *sigh* There are some good ones out there, but they're few and far and inbetween and only a few OMG!Amazing ones.

ETA: Saw your bazinga and thought you might appreciate this. One of the reasons the bad fic in TVD is so highlighted is that my last fandom was Sheldon/Penny from TBBT and that had literally THE most amazing fic. Tons and tons and TONS of it. I mean, TONS. And it was a half-hour sitcom with not much depth. And yet TVD.... yeah.

A lot of Mary Sues that are just writing out their fantasies, rather than what WE want to read. Which isn't bad per se, if you know how to write...

Also, if you do have any links to good fic, please share.I need very rec that can be spared. I have come across some good fic but nothing earth shattering. If you'd like, I can get home later after work and check my links for my bookmarks.

You know how when you think of certain fandoms, you have a few good fics that everyone knows about that becomes fanon but there isn't anything that comes to mind when I think of TVD. Or maybe, I haven't looked hard enough.
