Summary: In which Arthur wears a mask and discovers the value of reading the fine print.

(Note: for the kinkelot anonymity challenge. The colors of the masks follow a slightly-altered version of the hanky code.)

( The premise of Midnight Masque was simple, Gary explained. Everyone took a mask at the door and didn’t take it off until they were safe in one of the fourteen private bedrooms upstairs, if then. Instead of the awkward chatting-up one had to do at normal clubs, the color and patterns of the mask you chose told everyone exactly what you were looking for. Oh, and no girls allowed. )

What a great fic!! I love how you could see the misunderstanding coming a mile off, and I was just waiting for Arthur to realise :D :D Then Merlin was still so much himself, and adorably bossy (as was Arthur).

I like to think Arthur will be tempted back to that club...

Thank you! I think I enjoyed the temporary cockblocks and hilarious misunderstandings more than the actual sex. Does that make me a bad person?

I really liked that they didn't reveal their identities to each other - such a great realistic touch. And a good premise for a sequel, y/n?

Yeah, part of the appeal of this challenge to me was that they had no idea who this person was, yet were strangely compelled to have hot sexytiems with him. (It did make it a bit difficult to disambiguate without saying "the man" in every sentence, though, especially since they've got the same pronouns!)
