A good selection of books. I have The State We're In thanks to your heads up and The Curse of the Pharaohs appeals a lot so may look at her books.

How are you B? I miss your market day and garden centre bargain posts and looking at your latest sale clothes or shoes purchases! x

I do recommend the Amelia Peabody books. Tough and unconventional lady wants to be an archaeologist and solves murders while she's about it. You really need to start with the first book.

Thank you for the kind thoughts. My life has been so unutterably dull I haven't had a thing to say.

Me too. I've managed entire posts of boring drivel about once a week :)

Honey magazine! There's nothing remotely resembling it now, is there? I can almost hear the "Booooooooring!"

How I used to pore over it when I was at school! Not so boring; sixties copies go for high prices on ebay.

I meant that today's girls might find it boring - how amazing that they are now collector's items. I saw it more at work - the younger girls, 16 -18 or so

I read Honey in the late 70s and early 80s - I rarely buy magazines these days apart from an occasional knitting or gardening one.

I was planning to read Man at the Helm as I liked Love, Nina but may not bother now.

I don't think I looked at Honey after leaving school.

Man at the Helm is not a bad book and does have some funny moments. The situation is awful, though. Jacqueline Wilson, writing for children, is far more realistic on the subject.

I read Five Children on the Western Front in January too. I also enjoyed it very much and found it heartbreaking. I thought it was very well done.

I'll almost certainly read it again.
