Evelyn Everett-Green

Interesting article here in Stella & Rose’s latest newsletter, about the prolific author Evelyn Everett-Green. I have several of her books. Some I’ve enjoyed, some are not much good but that’s hardly surprising considering she wrote 350 novels! The editions are often very pretty. This is the title page from Sister.

I do like Victorian/Edwardian books but she's not an author I know. The inside of that book is really pretty :)

I do love the look of some old books.

I had a quick look for free Kindle titles but they all seem to be the historical ones, which probably wouldn't interest you. Or me!

The illustration of the house helps to fire the imagination. Something I've not felt about book illustration for a long time.

I forget where I bought the book but that picture sold it to me. I love the old books with glossy, illustrated title pages.

I haven't read much by Everett-Green. The books of hers that I first came across didn't really attract me. The last book of hers that I read was dire, which is no surprise if she was so prolific, but I have a couple more by her to read, so I'll see if the quality varies.

Was the dire book Monica, by any chance?
E E-G is an author you have to be in the right mood for.

No, it was My Cousin from Australia, but, as it happens, Monica is in my pile of books to read.
