Fresh strawberries are fantastic. Our slugs usually find ours before we do, though.

Shop ones are never the same.
I heartlessly disposed of a couple of snails I found amongst the strawberries. Blackbirds are as bad as slugs here.

Beautiful picture: my strawberries are still completely green (but fortunately the Muntjac stay out of our garden, and restrict themselves to the field.) I love astrantia too, but whatever variety I buy they all end up the same pink-tinged green.

Thank you! I love these flowers. I also have one of the dark red ones but I think you have to buy the plant in flower as a lot of them are seed raised and may not come true. A very reliable one with me and almost too vigorous is Astrantia maxima. Do you know that one? Sugar pink flowers which last a long time.
