Someone decided they would try and charge seniors for 'wear and tear' on concrete pathways within their own retirement homes.

Also, with the Salvation Army Op shops, there's no guarantee what you donate ends up in their store for sale. I volunteered at one for a while and was shocked to see stuff - good stuff - being thrown out. I'd say at least 2/3 of the toys donated never made it on the shop floor. Fair enough if it was crappy, but their 'if it's too good to throw away' slogan is bull.

Yeah, but I'm not fussed about that sort of thing. When I give my old stuff away, it's because I've severed it from my life, and I tend to donate only because it's a nice thing to do, not because I *want* someone to care for the item. I'm quite happy to stick it in a bin instead as it's less hassle for me, but eh, if someone else wants to try and flog it, fine.

Also, they are a business, and need to provide stuff they can sell. They might have already filled warehouses with simiar stuff, or brand new stuff still in packaging, etc etc etc.

(It's a lot like writing; you sending out in the dark hoping for a positive, but you never know what is influencing the receiver's thoughts at the time.)
