LJ Idol: Week 0 - Introduction

Oct 27, 2010 18:03

A year ago, I sat at this very same desk, littered with pencils and papers and snacks, and penned my first post in this competition. I was fifteen then, a sophomore in high school, with only the slightest hint of who I was, even though I thought I knew so much more at the time. Doesn't age always turn out that way, though? You think you know who ( Read more... )

This was a great post ^_^

I think it can be difficult being quiet and studious as a teenager but the great thing is that, as you go further in life, it becomes much easier to surround yourself with people who appreciate that.

Thank you.

Also, I find that the older a person gets, the more comfortable they get inside their own skin. Like when I was a freshman, I was almost petrified and barely talked to anyone. But now I'm still pretty shy, but I actually go out there and talk to people now that I'm a junior. So growing up helps in a myriad of ways. :)

I'm still petrified by having to talk to people, and I'm a long way past being a freshman, but I've grown a lot better at faking it, which is almost as good ^_^

Yeah, faking it always works if nothing else does. And the best thing about faking it is that eventually, if you fake something long enough, it doesn't become fake anymore. Which is good if you're faking not being shy. :)

So you know I love your writing right?

Well, oddly enough, something about this one didn't feel... organic, I think is the word. I dunno if it's just because I have a poor vocabulary, or what. But some of the word choices kinda threw me, and it felt at times you were using the right-click-synonyms button. Which I'm pretty positive you weren't, but it felt like that. I'm not sure if you can really do anything about that, but I thought you'd like to know.

The actual content is amazing and engaging, as per always. ;)

Huh. Really. That's strange, I thought that I was a bit vague in some spots and I really tried to just let the words flow. I definitely try not to fall victim to the "choose-a-big-word-when-a-small-one-will-do-just-as-well" idea, but I guess I wasn't quite as good with this one?

Thank you so much for the feedback, though. I really appreciate it. :) *hug*

Awww, Thanks for sharing! I am currently going back through my journal (Starting at the beginning, 9 years ago) and tagging entries with topics... and I am discovering things I wrote that I look back on and think, Wow... I have really grown. THis isnt me at all now....

So I totally understand where you are coming from.

I look forward to reading more of what you have to write :)

Hee. I can't even imagine going back to my first few posts on LJ now. Back then, I was the most conservative Christian that you could ever imagine; if you go back to April of... 2007? you can definitely see that. God, I was so young then. It just proves that people change a lot over the years. I'm constantly changing, I'm never the same person I was even yesterday. I'm glad you could relate to the entry, and thanks for commenting!

Thank you. I am so glad to be back! :D

Good luck to you too; I'm also attempting NaNo, Idol and schoolwork all at the same time so I just know how busy November is going to be. :)

I'm doing Nano too, plus I work so I can't even imagine how hectic this month is going to be!

Hee. I noticed that on your page (I get curious :P).

And yeah, next month is definitely going to be hectic. But I am determined to win NaNo this year, I am determined not to drop out of Idol, and I am determined to get at least a 90 in Physics and an A in Anatomy in school, so I can't really slack off on anything. We'll see how it goes! :D
