I'm reading (well, re-reading) Heinlein again, and I realize how much of who I am comes from him. This plain, outspoken, no bullshit voice that I think of as my own is so very much his. Thanks to Heinlein, I thought, I really did, that monogamy was just a farce, a pretense kept up by most people out of custom and habit. I never imagined myself ( Read more... )

I reread Stranger in a Strange Land as an adult and I was shocked at how much of my world view came from that one book. I don't know if it just clicked with who I was or shaped it somehow. He touched on something that spoke to a lot of people.

Ya know, I've somehow escaped so far having never read any Heinlein. I need to remedy that.
